Notes: | Label source: A few km east of the small village of Coyula which lies on the Pacific coast about 20 km east of Puerto Angel along the coast towards Salina Cruz, in low rolling coastal hills a few km inland from the coast. Medium-sized tree to 18m ht. wit, h a clear bole to 10m ht. then light branching to give an open rounded crown. Bark light mid grey, smooth with marked horizontal ribs and some knobbly protruberances, inner bark green then pale tangerine, smelling of garden peas. Foliage slightly discolou, rous, bright mid green above, paler below, recently flushed and immature. Ripe dehisced pods collected from below the tree, seeds persistent on separate pod valves after dehiscence. Very common in degraded dry deciduous forest and secondary vegetation wit, h Acacia, Leucaena, Lonchocarpus and Bursera; also noted as an invasive weed in degraded pastures. |
