Trackside.x0Dx0Ax0Dx0ATre 3.5-4m, trunk 15cm diam. at base, soon branching at 25cm height, branches 8cm diam. (can become a tree 6m x40c, m). Trunk with rough fissured bark, flaking in large chunks, younger branches smooth, bark white and pale grey with pustular, knob-like lenticels. Open scrappy crown. Branchlets grey and shiny. Some trees in foliage only, flowering and fruiting mainlyon l, eafless specimens. Foliage soft, mid-green with bluish tinge. Buds blackish purple. Calyx tube green at base, sepals red. Petals pale yellow, standard with dark blood-red network of insect guides, with basal central pinkish blotch just above claw, lateral, petals sometimes with faint red veins. On average one or two flowers open per infloresence. Stamen filaments and style pale greenish cream, base of upper stamen filaments same pink as blotch on standard. Stamens in two whorlsm with 5 inner shorter ones a, nd 5 outer longer upturned ones, anthers hairy. Fruits inflated, green maturing orange-brown. Seeds brownish or black.
