Notes: Made in Ivory Coast, these samples were given to Bill Baker by an art collector in Miami who claims that this remarkable skill is now lost. Apparently the strands are somehow braided and the product is tubular. It is then carefully bunched up and tied,, before being coated with natural dyes. When the fabric is released again, it has this elastic quality and is beautifully patterened. Complete specimens are about 1m long and 30cm wide. Lady who donated the samples is Vilma Garabaghi, 4050 Ensenada A, venue, Coconut Grove, Fl 33133, USA.
