Notes: | Snuff boxes with decorated tops (Silver and bead-work). Donated by Mrs Annette Alvis, 11a St Andrews Mansions, Old Church Lane, London, NW9 8TB? Nov, 1998. They were given by Afghan mujaidheen to Mrs Alvis's son Mark (1962-1991) whilst he was teaching En, glish in Baluchistan (Pakistan). He first visited there in 1979, and stayed in Quetta. Snuff containers called kado are presented on special occasions. Where exactly these two were made and in what year they were given to Mark is not known. |
