Notes: | Seeds from the fruit are mixed with those of 73441, and stored with that fruit. A climber in the tropical forests of Malay (Thailand, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Aru Islands, New Guinea, Philippines). When ripe the fruit opens at the top by three inflexed val, ves and the silky seeds are released. They float about for some time like large butterflies and clouds of them are frequently seen out at sea. The seeds are unique in the Cucumber family to which the plant belongs. In this fruit there were 545 seeds. I, n parts of New Guinea this plant is the most conspicuous in the low forest along the coast. It obliterates whole trees with dense walls of verdure, while the fallen fruits, rotting on the ground, are most striking objects.
