| Notes: | Trees of Brazil. New species with large fruit. Road to Pontal, junction on left, about 1km up this track, ca 200 m up slope. Steep east sea facing slope; scrubby restinga on white sand. Multi-stemmed shrub 2.5m. Bark pale brown mottled grey with lich, en, fissuring vertically and flaking very slightly. Slash 2-3mm, buff, oxidising red bown, 2 layered, with central portion producing red exudate. Wood with grain of concentric rings of brown and buff, red ring at centre producing red exudate. Fruit 9-1, 0cm long x 7-7.5cm high x 7-8cm wide. Outher brown with darker brown scales; mesocarp pale green, hard; endocarp woody, very hard; single white seed. Voucher for cp DNA study. | ||||
