Notes: | Label source: Letter Feb 3rd 1931 Seeds, No 537, from Messrs Knowles & Foster for identification - called 'Castanha Mineira' from Brazil, thought to be 'Kola nuts' Reply: certainly not Kola Nuts and inadvisable to use the seeds as such. The true kola nut, tree (Cola acuminata) native of West Africa is however believed to be cultivated in Brazil - further sample requested of seeds from Brazil with a view to identification. Later letter stating that dealer had said they were Kola Nuts = Carapa guianensis, n, amed in Herbarium 13.ii.31 JHH |
