July 30 1934 imported the seeds of C.procera a large tree of West Africa. Same seed in Museum under the name of Ibegogo from South Niger, ia and samples of the kernels from Sierra Leone, Gold Coast etc. examined at the Imp Inst and found to contain 50% of a bitter oil suitable for candle manufacture and soap (See Bull Imp Inst 1908 p.360 and Coll Rep Misc 88 1914 - Carapa seeds pp.564-567), JHH |
