Notes: | Opuscular source: Letter dated 26th Feb 1902 - Dear Sir William Thiselton Dyer, On 30th Nov last you wrote to me regarding item No 111 in my Nicobar Catalogue. I wrote to Port Blair at the time and the Chaplain there kindly procured and sent specimensof, the 2 kinds of plant used at the different islands of the group. I do not know whether the S.longipetiolatum is a kin to Gluta longipetiolata for on referring to my Andaman App. I find that the latter name is given against the Andaman name Ja-da. I enclos, e Major Prain's letter with reference to your truely EH Man S.longipetiolatum King & Prain was described and figured in Am, Bot. Gard. Calcutta IX.I.50 tab 63. We have no specimen of the plant in the herbarium; but there seems to be no reason to doubt th, e correctness of the identification of Man's No 111 with the species mentioned above Signed Otto Stapf 28.2.02 Label source: Thought to be Terminalia catappa ? |
