Notes: | Label source: No 148 Site : Inundated forest, vegetation type 2, with Shorea balangeran, Garcinia sp., Eugenia sp.. Inundated for at least 5 to 6 monthes annually. Soil = kaiolinillite clay, pH 4.5 to 5. Little organic matter. Habit : Tree, 20 m tall. El, sewhere up to 40 m, in other areas (esp. north-west part of reserve) stunted, and 8 to 12m (then called tembesu rebung by locals). Trunk : 0 to 50 cm = grey, deeply grooved and fissured; slash - brown. Odour : both bark and wood have a very strong, sweet, odour. Fruit : Orange berry, round, 4 to 5mm 0 Note: Wood burns even when wet: branch ends droop |
