Notes: | Label source: From a bale valued at 5.5d per lb. From Leoline Edwards 81 St Margarets Road, Twickenham, London S.W. 14th July 1916. Reg. Trade Mark 'Quidos'. To Mr Holland, The Museum, Kew Gardens: Dear Sir, as promised I have much pleasure in sending yo, u a small sample out the bale of akund purchased by me on the open market at a cost of 5.5d per lb. I have used it for stuffing military sleeping bags of my own special design, I have as well made tests of it for buoyancy and find it particularly good. Re, garding the floss Asclepias fruticosa about which we had a talk I have been making some tests it is peculiar in giving a faint yellow colour to water are much the same as the kapoks, Bombax, & Akund but it is much inferior to these in buoyancy. Thanking y, ou for your kind attention. Leoline Edwards. Thanks Herewith J.H.H. |
