Notes: | Label source: See Herb. sheet and spirit. Silver barked tree, in fruit. Lake Langans, Ethiopian Rift Valley. Fresh water lake. North shore. Soil a light tufa sand, very porous. This lake has hot springs in places. Seen also Awash, 20.1.70 near river. Sol, itary mature specimen amongst Acacia (eg Ash 306) & with two or three species of climbers. Below pumice cliff. Leaves scabid on upper surface olive green, paler below. Veins yellowish below. Fruit berry-like and reminescent of British Sorbus species. Bark, satiny, smooth, ? pale grey - tinged pinkish in places: deciduous, peeling and rolling up longitudinally like cinnamon bark. |
