Notes: | Label source: About 2km along the road towards Hacienda San Benito from the main coastal road running west from Acajutla to the Guatemalan frontier. about 35km west of Acajutla. Medium-sized tree to 12m ht. DBH 60cm. Highly branched, resprouting vigourou, sly after lopping. Leaves shedding, discolourous, dark bottle green above paler below. Flowers in spikes, buds vivid lime green corolla and calyx yellowy lime green, stamen filaments white, whole infloresence fading dirty tangerine yellow. Pods heavily tw, isted, olive green unripe pale brown when ripe; seeds white. Woody base of old petiole scars deciduous; tiny spine like stipules. Frequent, in secondary forest and in fencelines with Bauhinia, Acacia, Cordia and Simarouba. |
