Notes: | Label source: Ear and grain similar in size and shape to those of Common Barley, but, together with the straw, a good deal darker in colour, particularly a few days before ripening. This variety is now cultivated to a considerable extent in Perth - and, Forfar shires, as well as some parts towards the south west of Scotland. It is about a week earlier than Common Barley. The earliness of the Dunlop especially recommends it to the attention of cultivators in the later districts and higher altitudes at whi, ch barley is grown. |
