Notes: | The wicker-weave basketry technique is typical of the Bidayuh who use different species of rattan for the vertical warp (uwah) and horizontal weft (paang) strands. Fine black fiber which holds the bark fastening strap in place may be derived from the fern, Gleichenia sp.(see pg. 82 of 'Plaited Arts from the Borneo Rainforest'). |
