Notes: From Black Ash (pounded by an electric pounder) and Hierochloe odorata (sweet grass). Glooscap is a mi'kmaq god. Made originally for the Victorian market. Diamond shaped embellishments. Growth rings from ash, then split in half, then again and so on., Then each side is scraped against a knife, particularly on the inner edge of each ring. [Brushes: most mi'kmaq houses have them & they put them in steam to regain the smell. Vanilla smell of grass only released when pulled.] Black Ash has since [object, collected] been decimated by a beetle introduced from China.
