Notes: | - While this basket is referred to on Dunsmore's original label as a Kayan 'Ingan', in her chapter published in 'Plaited Arts of the Borneo Rainforest' the same basket is pictured and labelled as an Iban 'Ingan'. x0Dx0A- However, in 'Iban Baskets' by Blehaut,, all padi carrying baskets are referred to by the Iban as 'Lanji' (pg. 145). x0Dx0A- Blehaut also states that the Kayan and Kenyah have baskets which closely resemble Iban 'lanji; which they refer to as 'ingen' / 'ingan'; and describes the subtle differencesb, etween the style coming from each ethnic group (pg. 153). x0Dx0A- Due to this confusion it is not possible to say with certainty whether this example is Iban or Kayan, and whether it should be refered to as an 'Ingan' or a 'Lanji'x0Dx0ABody is Calamus optimus a, nd rim is Calamus ornatus (John Dransfield May 2018) | ||||
