Notes: | Woad is a winter annual. (It becomes a biennial when seeds are sown in spring). Seeds are sown for a crop in spring. The plant forms a tap root and a rosette of leaves in the first year. The leaves are harvested from the end of June onwards. In the s, econd year, the stem elongates rapidly to produce a branching stem with flowers and then black, hanging 'seeds' (siliqua). |
