| Notes: | Label: Lokao - A traditional Chinese dyestuff: the green substance is formed by photo-oxidation of a colourless glycoside which is present in the bark of Rhamnus cathartica and related species. The process was observed in China by the French missionaryL, e P. Helot (circ. 1850), and the dyestuff was obtained in France (Bridel and Charaux, 1925) and in Cambridge from buckthorn (Rh. cathartica) by Robin Hill.x0Dx0ASheet with 6 samples of dyed silk textile pieces attached: Molecular aggregation of lokaomic acid, dyed on silk with Al, NaCl, C??
