Notes: | Label source: A pale pinkish-coloured, moderately open textured straight, sometimes interlocked grained timber, with occasional gum veins. It is not regarded as durable, and being liable to excessive shrinkage (collapse) it is rarely milled. It is used o, ccasionally for fruit cases, shingles, fence rails and and rough building. If reconditioned, there is no reason why it could not be used for flooring and lining. The light coloured sapwood is attacked by the Powder Post Borer. The tree has a wide distribu, tion and in favourable basalt situations reaches a large size on the Tablelands of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. H=Moderately hard. W=41-60 lb. per. cub. ft. |
