Notes: Label source: A pale-coloured, moderately open-textured, usually straight-grained, fissile wood. It is a valuable hardwood available in commercial quantities and is used for all building purposes, scantlings, flooring, weatherboards, handles, coach-build, ing and heavy furniture. The timber seasons well, the lighter coloured sapwood is occasionally attacked by the Powder Post Borer. Occurs as a large tree attaining a height up to 200 ft. and about 20 ft. girth, on the Main Dividing Range, chiefly in the c, entral and southern parts of the State at high elevations. H=Moderate W=44-57 lb. per cub.ft.
