| Notes: | Label source: Characteristic red marking. 2 varieties are recognised - yellow and black -but as far as is known there is but little difference in mechanical properties. Tree occurs throughout the island attaining very large size. Wood moderately hard,, strong and ofter figured with red markings, Wt about 50 lbs per cu ft. Saws and planes well and takes a good polish. Used locally for building etc. but surplus for which no market at present exists. | ||||
