Notes: | Label source: British Honduras Chamber of Commerce Founded Feb. 10th 1918 Inc. Feb. 19th 1920. Sample of Red Mangrove. This is a very abundant wood of a deep red colour. Can be got in straight logs of from 50 to 80 ft. squaring from 12 inches to 15 inche, s. Used in the framing of houses and is extremely durable. Most useful where a heavy beam is required as it seems to grow harder year by year. It is almost impossible to drive a nail into it after it has been in a building a year or so. This specimen is a, young tree and does not show the distinctive red colour. |
