Notes: | Laverbread produced from edible seaweed. Porphyra is thoroughly washed to remove the sand and is boiled for several hours. A traditional food of South Wales. It is traditionally eaten with bacon fat and oatmeal. Also collected on the north coast of Devona, nd Cornwall by 15-20 pickers. The seaweed grows on rocky shorelines throughout coastal Britain. x0Dx0ASustainable harvesting can be carried out if the seaweed is cut, rather than pulled, which avoids damage to holdfasts.x0Dx0A |
