Notes: Gift from Uhle to R.N. Salaman at University Museum, Philadelphia. Hawkes obtained them from the estate of Salaman. Included not reads: 'Two examples of archaeological potatoes from Peru. They are very small and don't look much like the modern tuber, b, ut they seem to be as large and good as any that we have here...These came from a group of similar objects in our catalogue number 27717 excavated by Dr. Max Uhle in 1896 at Pachacamac, the original field number being 741N. The data on the catalogue card, states that they were found on a mummy in te oldest part of the graveyard.'
