Notes: | Note reads: ''Three sorts of salep purchased from an itinerant merchant from Ghazni. The 3 kinds were in seperate bundles but he called them all by one name Salep. The two others are probably young roots or live [?] cloves from the larger bulbs of some [?, ] species of [?]. Dr. Aitchison, see Museum Report 1895 p. 21.'' There are two small bottles of tubers as well as some loose in this specimen. One bottle label reads: ''Salep. Dr. JET Aitchison, Cashmir.'' The other reads: ''Eulophia campestris, Eulophia, vera. Salep from Cashmir. Dr Royle, Dr P. 567.'' Botanical identification inferred from this information, and from vernacular name and geography (vernacular name suggests identification of Orchis sp. or Eulophia sp., both in Orchidaceae).
