Notes: Peace stick made of wood covered with mother of pearl and stem fibres of Diplocaulobium solomonense. The yellow fibres are natural colour. The red ones have been dyed. From Santa Anna Island off San Cristobal, Solomon Islands. Given to Phil Cribb in 19, 80 by Geoff Dennis, founder of Honiara Botanic Garden, and a dealer in such items. Pointing with the decorated end with the fibres is a friendly gesture. Pointing with the other end is a hostile one. Donated by P Cribb, 1998
