Notes: | Collector's note: Probably Arbutus glandulosa or A. menziesii Pursh; the fruits are threaded to form a necklace by the Tarahumara Indians. Both the unripened green and the mature red fruits are used. Also one necklace is a mixture of Arbutus sp with bla, ck seeds from the Euphorbiaceae family. All bought at the Mission Shop in Creel.x0Dx0AIdentification notes: Arbutus xalapensis Kunth (synonym Arbutus glandulosa M.Martens & Galeotti), Arbutus menziesii Pursh and Arbutus arizonica (A. Gray) Sarg. are possibl, e. The black fruits are Mirabilis anthocarps (i.e. persistent calyx enwrapped achene fruits). | ||||
