Notes: Fish trap made by Nkemngong Barnabus, who learnt how to make traps as a boy at Lebialem. Different plants are used to make them depending on availability (especially by children). This trap is made of palm, and the rope is of beaten inner fibre of stem., Palm nuts are placed inside the pointed end of the trap and the inner ring of barbs prevents the fish getting out once they have entered. Similar traps are made to catch other fish, this one was made unusually small to enable transportation. Usually t, hey are 4-5 feet long. The pointed end can be untied to get the fish out. The conical shape is held round by a ring of inner bark from a Legume - Mimosoideae.
