Notes: | Condiment - purchased from Limbe market spice stall. Some is cultivated b local farmers - most is harvested from the wild. A dioecious tree of secondary forest, the edible seeds are an important food. Seeds are ground and cooked in soup, especially as, a fish flavouring. Sold in markets throughout West Africa. Said to be less common in Mabeta Moliwe than at one time. The wood is used for planks, mortars and for pounding yams. |
