Notes: | Bought from Maiongong Indians who were visiting the town of Boa Vista. The board is made from the wood of Cedrela odorata L. (Meliaceae), and is dyed with the red arils of Bixa orellana L (Bixaceae) fruits. The teeth are made from pieces of tin can, alt, hough these would traditionally have been made from chips of a particular stone. They are knocked into the wood, and then fixed in position with the latex of Couma macrocarpa Barb. Rodr. (Apocynaceae), which is also used to make the designs.x0Dx0APlants + Pe, ople exhibition Museum No 1, Kew. May 1998 to May 2016. | ||||
