Carrying basket, used by women for firewood, bananas, cassava etc. Woven from the stripped and split aerial roots of Heteropsis jenmani Oliver (Araceae); dyed with the red aril of Bixa orellana L. (Bixaceae); designs drown on with a mixture of soot obtai, ned from the burning of Hymenaea (Leguminosae) resin and Bixa orellana aril. Bought in Boa Vista from a representative of CCPY, a health organisation working in the village where it was made.
