Notes: Easter stick. Made from willow - tradition has it that on Easter Day young men carry these around with them. If they see a young girl they fancy they ask them for a painted easter egg. If the girl likes them they will offer a delicately patterned egg., If not, then a plainly dyed egg. The young may in the latter case beat them symbolically with this Easter whip. Made for C Stirton by relatives in Czechoslovakia.
