| Notes: | New species with large fruit. Trees of Brazil. Fouth facing slope near hilltop. Transition from scrubby to arboreal restinga. Multistemmed shrub/small tree, ca. 25 stems, max 5cm dia. Bark grey/grey/brown, fissured vertically, flaking slightly. Slas, h and centre of heartwood producing red exudate. Wood hard with beautiful grain in concentric rings. Old leaves with inrolled margin. Fruit 6-7.5cm long x 4.3-6.5cm high x 5-6.5cm wide; outer pale brown with darker brown markings, rough; mesocarp hard, , pale green; endocarp pale brown, woody. Single seed. Voucher for cpDNA study. | ||||
