Notes: | Label source: Herbarium Kewensis. 2.7 km from Mogapinyana along unmetalled road to Sephophe. Tree to 7m. well branched, first branching at 1.1m. diam. at waist height 15cm. Bark fissured longitudinally and criss-crossed: grey. Slash reddish brown. Abunda, nce: dominant species - occurs as a mosaic of trees and shrubs. Site: shrubland with trees admixed, canopy almost complete. Grazed. Species present: ground cover is sparse with only a few grasses and forbs, including Xerophyta. Soil: hard. Notes: this spe, cies is the host for the mopane caterpillar which are harvested, boiled to kill them and then salted and dried. Many poeple were seen in the area yesterday doing this work.
