Notes: | Label source: Location - 2.7km Mogapinyana along unmetalled road to Sephophe Tree to 7m well branched, first branching at 1.1m diameter at waist height 15 cm. Bark fissured longitudinally and criss-crossed; grey. Slash reddish brown. Abundance: dominant, species - occurs as a mosaic of trees and shrubs. Site: shrubland with trees admixed, canopy almost complete. Grazed. Species present: ground cover is sparse with only a few grasses and forbs, including Xerophyta. Soil: hard. Notes: this caterpillar feed, s on Colophospermum mopane (Kirk ex Benth.) Kirk ex J.Leonard (of which there is a specimen in the wood collection). The caterpillars are harvested, boiled to kill them and then salted and dried. Many people were seen in the area doing this work. Sackfuls, of the processed grubs were being transported.
