Notes: | Label source: Very common on roadside verges of Karakorum Highway. Collected on roadside by stretch of highway passing close to Nanga Parbat. Driver said fruit mildly poisonous to humans but eaten by sheep. Ali Muhammad, a Balti guide staying in Karimab, ad, said Balti name for this plant is Krasmah and that a powder of the dried fruit is used as an antiseptic for cuts. Green, cucumber like fruit bursts into segments when ripe revealing black seeds on bright red interior, pulp very striking. |
