Notes: | Label source: Site; Inundated forest, type 2, with S. balabgeran, Garcinia sp., Eugenia sp. , Fagraea fragrans. Inundated by 2-2.5m annually. Soil; kaolinillite clay. Habit; Erect tree, about 16m tall. In lake area its size is variable , ranging from ama, x. of some 20m in the north-west, to almost 50m in the central-south-east area. Perhaps age-classing due to periodic fires? Trunk; 50cm at breast height; bark; dark brown to almost black, hard, fissured; slash; reddish-brown; wood; white; resin clear. Fru, it; light reddish-brown & green. Odour; Leaves and twigs have a sweet, spicy odour. Note; Timber is excellent, very durable and easy to work and handle; locally =no.1 wood type for boat construction. 44 2 89. |
