Notes: | Note source: Guilandina bonducella. 7 seeds collected from plant early in 1908. When first weighed together during June 1908 they showed a constant weight of 205.44 grains and behaved like typical impermeable seeds; but after this their total weight incr, eased gradually to 207 grains on Oct 27th 1908. It was then evident that one or more of the seeds were losing their impermeablity and gaining weight, so with the intention of finding the delinquent the seeds were now and afterwards weighed separately. Up, to July 1912 it was evident that B was the culprit showing a range of .4 grains or 1.3 percent, the slight range of the others .05 to .12 being evidently instrumental, as it amounted to .1 to .4 per cent (the instrumental error quite covering .1grain whic, h is .3 per cent). However a much longer time is needed to be on safe ground. The separate results are given in the list. The weighing of 1922 brings out the behaviour of B. B has its concentric cracks more evident and also more numerous.See list for deta, ils. |
