Notes: | Label source: Kinds of Lacquer etc. used for Lacquering with gold. No.44 Nashiji-Urushi (pear bases lacquer) - required for using over gold, silver or tin powdering. Consists of finest crude lacquer. No. 45. Yoshino-Urushi - Crude lacquer from the distri, ct of Yoshino. Dries rapidly, used for final coat before polishing. No. 46 Yoshino-nobe-urushi (Yoshino spreading lacquer (same as above), one third camphor added to make lacquer thinner. No.48 Shita-maki-urushi (Undercoat lacquer) Mixture of branch lacqu, er and equal amont of red oxide of iron. No. 49.Ke-uchi-urushi (Inside line lacquer) Same as above but allowed to stand for 6 months after mixing when it becomes thicker, so that the finest lines can be drawn without running. |
