Notes: | Opuscular source: Extract of letter from 30th Jan 1892, Annatto Works, 31 Bevenden St, Hoxton. We have tested samples Annatto sent to us from Lagos, we do not find much difference between no 1 and no 2 (hot and cold water processes), which are both dried, too hard but we think no 2 the best sample. No 3 as the natives produce it is too wet and soft. The market value very greatly fluctuates and therefore we cannot give you any reliable value. A large quantity of annatto is imported from Ceylon and we ar, e of opinion their method of preparing annatto for the market is as good as any - the samples from Lagos are very similar to the Ceylon annatto. Signed Fullwood and Bland. Label source: Prepared seeds - by the cold water process. |
