Notes: Label source: The light colour upon the inside of the bowl is the Kava accumulated by repeated use. Used for preparing Kava for great festivals. The roots of the Kava Pepper (Piper methysticum, Forst) are cut and chewed in the mouth, and the saliva eje, cted into the bowl and rapidly fermented and strained. This constitutes the favourite drink of the South Sea Islanders, who call it Kava.
