The piece of Canella bark I had from you is typical Canella. The outer (sclerenchymatous, ) layer has been removed, but the structure of the remainder is normal. (HGG?) 5. I have examined the two barks with smooth surface and find an occasional bast fibre in secondary bark. HGG Jan 1894. The stone cell layer is very much interrupted. I have, examined form specimens of the remaining barks and can find no secondary bast fibre. the brown spots (or warts) are phello derm (thin walled) with brownish resin partly soluble in KoH? |
