Notes: | Opuscular source: Letter from Arthur Hill, Director of Kew to Pharm Society; 29th March 1933, Dear Sir, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 23rd instant accompanied by fruits from Venezuela known as 'Resina de Chuchy' for identification, . These appear to be the fruits of a species of Clusia (family Guttiferae), probably Clusia rosa Jacq. the valves having broken away leaving the septre and seeds. It is recored that the resin from the fruits of C. rosea is used in Venezuela where the pla, nt is known as 'Copei'. References to the medicinal uses of theis species are to be found in Kew Bulletin 1891 p.167, Plancheon & Collins 'Les Drogues Simples' and no doubt other works. |
