Notes: | Opuscular source: Letter 440, 1917, xii p21. The oil seed has not been determined. It no doubt belongs to the family Guttiferae and it bears considerable resemblance to Platonia insignis, Mart. as figured in the Flora Brasiliensis. The general structu, re is identical, but in the Platonia, the seeds are shown as triquetrous with a conspicuous depression at the top, features not present in the seeds submitted. They are also similar to Garcinia and Rheedia, genera with a considerable number of sp of wh, ich seeds are now known. |
