Notes: | Label source: Can you give me further information on the variety of cotton from the Sudan that you reported upon in the course of June last. I enclose your letter on the subject together with the Brokers reports on the subject which may interest you to r, ead, you will observe that they consider the cotton to resemble Smyrna or Greek growths, and a better cotton than any indigenous Indian growth: I also understand a few samples of the cotton bolls they were picked by Stanton Bey, the Mudor (?) of Khaltam i, n the middle of the Gazireh between the Blue and White Niles - Stanton Bey remarks the seed has been in the country ever since anyone remembers as I cannot find out if it was introduced or not. It seems to me that the prospect of a remunerative cultivati, on off this product in the Sudan appear very hopeful.
