Notes: | Label source: Copy of report 7.11.28 - sample of 'Arabkoozy' from Persia, Taylor, Pyemont & Mulleneux, 5 Tithebarn Street, Liverpool. The sample of 'Arabkoozy' consists of portions of the tuber and basal part of the stem of G.bruguieri, Desf., which grow, s in Persia, Mesopotamia and South Arabia. It is stated that genuine 'Revalenta Arabica', an easily digestible food for invalids, is prepared from the tubers of this plant. The tubers are sold under the name of 'Moghaat' or 'Moghath' in some countries and, according to a German work, 'Arabgossi' in Arabia. The latter name is, no doubt, a pronounciation - variant of 'Arabkoozy'. LAB 19.xi.28 Memo from Taylor, Pyemont & Mulleneux dated Liverpool 10th Nov 1928 to Director RBG Kew - Dear Sir, We are in receip, t of your favour of the 9th instant, re 'Arabkoozy' and thank you for the information contained therein. |
