Notes: Label source: Note dated 3rd Nov 1920 - Dear Prof Greenish: under separate cover Regis ..?.., I have sent off to you some specimens of Guaiacum tears, seeds etc, personally collected on my property; in fact if it was possible I would readily send you a, tree! I have noted that the tree produces tears varying in size from a small pea to a ...?.... seeds, others are long resinous ....?.... that have dried on the outer surface. Of course the ordinary lump resin is obtained as usual by heating the logs and i, ts collection in earthernware vessels. I had occasion to note as if the trees naturally omited resinous tears may by the high temperature of the suns heat it causes the wood of the trees to transpire these tears as the trees also may have been punctured o, r damaged by certain birds, and as aforesaid the sound heat causes the resin to flow out and is dried on the outer surface. In case you should desire any further info please let me know as being entirely at your services here with my best wishes and gree, ting beforehand for Christmas very truely Nelvil St Cyr
