Notes: Label source: The curiosity of this is that when Sarcocaulon begins to sprout up in spring the bucks browse on it and then tears of resin exude and harden to the density of shellac. When the plant dies out, the central pith decays right away, the thin e, xternal bark scales off and there is left a cast so to speak of the plant stem in resin. Some Johnnie up there in Namaqualand with little to do has caught sight of this and proposes to make French polish or let us say Namaqua Polish of it.
