Notes: | Label source: Lewis and Peat 13.18... 'Cocculus indic us' @ Trieste lot 273, originally from Bombay Opuscular source: RBG Kew Feb 13/53, Dear Sir, We have not got either the plant, seed or dye of Bottlera tinctoria, neither have we the fruit of Sapium i, ndicum, in the Kew collection, but I do not think that the fruits which you sent me can be those of Sapium or any of the Euphorbiaceae which I believe all have albumen and your fruit is certainly exalbuminous. I have shown the fruit to Dr Hooker and he s, ays that it is most probably a Glycormis or some allied Marantiaceae. Mr McCulloch was not at home when I called the other day but I saw his assistant who gave me all the help in his power, and I have now received all the articles in my list except one on, two things which they do not keep. Is 'Cabbage Tree Brk' the bark of Andira inermis? Butler has sent it as such but I cannot find it anywhere described under that name. Yours very truely Alex Smith |
